The revamp and SEO strategy of Stephanie’s site has had a huge visual impact on not only her audience but also search engines.
Newborn Nirvana was making a name for itself online among parents of all kinds who needed support with their new growing families.
In the Stephanie’s questionnaire she stated…
“Over the next 12 months, my primary objectives encompass boosting sales, amplifying brand recognition, and expanding market reach. Additionally, I plan to actively engage in networking and relationship-building endeavors…”
Phase One: Objectives & Strategy
Strategy Session
Starting with the bones of Stephanie’s current site, we wanted to ensure the new site connected with her audience immediately to begin building trust and making it easy for them to navigate.
Audience Strategy
Stephanie sets herself apart by not limiting the audience to the typical parent stereotypes. So, I strategically created visuals for her site that would appeal to any parent or family.
Stephanie’s Vision:
“…We went through multiple revisions of my website, each better than the last. It wasn’t until the last revision that I had a clearer vision of where I wanted to go, and Sarah was able to execute it beautifully through each and every step of designing my website.”
Three key goals we aimed to achieve on Stephanie’s website were:
1
Create whitespace throughout the content that does not feel overwhelming and seems light.
2
Have a consistent vibe with visuals that build trust with any type of parent.
3
Make the site easy to navigate for families seeking help with specific problems.
Phase Two: Website Development & Design
Website Platform
Accomplishing the first goal created a baseline for the design by using organic shapes, which called for a unique and customized layout. Plus, her desire to grow the site to something much more significant in the future told me that WordPress was, without a doubt, the best option.
With the Divi builder, I can establish all the brand elements in the first steps, allowing me to quickly build pages that are on brand. With Stephanie’s branding, we already had several graphics. Still, I created additional ones to show parents’ specific struggles with newborns and implemented images of parents who would resemble Stephanie’s audience to start building on that trust factor.
Build Process
The home page for any site sets the stage, and getting it right for Stephanie and her audience was critical to ensure the remaining pages would also be successful.
However, each subpage had its own goal and requested a more custom layout. I ensured each page used the same styling, branding, graphics, and organic elements to keep the vibe consistent throughout.
SEO Strategy Add-on
Not only did Stephanie come to me with the revamp of her website, but she was also ready to invest in a complete SEO strategy. Having her site in WordPress made it easy to run SEO audits, implement keywords, optimize all her images, add metadata, and fix errors.
The SEO Transformation
At the beginning of her project, her SEO score was at 70, and when we completed the SEO strategy implementation, her score had raised to a 97!
Review & Approvals
Through each review, we had two major components: the modern imagery and creating hierarchy with the playful text. We wanted to create a consistent vide throughout and ensure the entire site had an excellent flow for the audience.
Phase Three: Finalization & Handoff
During the Final Review
Stephanie commented, “Collaborating with Sarah has been an absolute pleasure…To be candid, amidst my frequent changes of heart regarding the website’s design, I harbored concerns about Sarah’s patience wearing thin. Yet, she proved to be incredibly patient, steadfastly accompanying me through each revision until the project’s recent completion. Sarah’s dedication, professionalism, and expertise are truly remarkable.”
Finalization
After the final review is approved, I start cleaning up the website’s backend before it is handed off. I remove unused media, plugins, and themes to provide my clients with a clean, organized, easy-to-manage website. It’s also great to have screenshots, videos, and backups of the entire site created in case Stephanie or I need to reference them in the future. When offboarding Stephanie, I reminded her that she still had a week of support in case something got missed and that additional support through website maintenance is always available.
Stephanie Adds
“Also, you have always gone above and beyond in your support. For example, you created a set of handouts on SEO that you sent to me to help me understand. When I could not figure out how to set up Google Console, you hopped on a call with me to help me figure it out. Sarah, you are a real gem.”
Since the handoff
Stephanie mentioned, “Working with Sarah has been a delightful experience for several reasons. Her strong work ethic and kindness are undeniable and after working together for over a year, we now understand each other’s perspectives and can communicate effectively, which makes collaborating on projects seamless and enjoyable. This connection has allowed us to build trust and a sense of camaraderie, making it a pleasure to work together and achieve each of our goals.”
